It is dietary food for adult dogs that helps reduce urinary tract stones, in particular uroliths of urates, oxalates and cystine.
It also helps reduce the accumulation of copper in the liver and stimulates the function of the kidneys in cases of chronic renal failure.
Hill's Prescription Diet U/D Urinary Care has a special composition for this. It contains a low dose of calcium, phosphorus, vitamin D, purine and copper.
It also contains a dose of sulphurous amino acids and has an alkalising action on the urine. To reduce the production of waste materials it has a low protein content, with high quality proteins. Above all, Hill's Prescription Diet U/D Urinary Care contains very little salt in order to reduce water retention in cases of heart disease in the early stages.
The foods in the Hill's Prescription Diet U/D Urinary Care line have been formulated for the management of dogs with problems associated with advanced kidney disease.
Kidney disease causes decreased kidney efficiency in removing toxic substances from the bloodstream and regulating body fluids. Hill's Prescription Diet U/D Urinary Care wet food helps reduce the formation of oxalate, urate and cystine stones and contains low levels of high quality protein to reduce the formation of waste products that cause problems in dogs with kidney disease .
Contain a reduced amount of salt to help control fluid retention in early heart disease. The product is not recommended for cats, puppies, pregnant or lactating females, dogs with struvite urolithiasis, dogs with hypoalbuminemia, hyperlipidemia or pancreatitis, or a history of, or at risk of pancreatitis, for dogs in the first two weeks after surgery .
