EPA, also called icosapentaenoic acid, is a polyunsaturated fatty acid which, alone or in association with other sources, has the ability to reduce inflammation.
DHA or cervinic acid, on the other hand, is a polyunsaturated fatty acid constituting the phospholipids of the brain and retinal membranes, which therefore contributes to the maintenance of regular brain and visual activity. In combination EPA and DHA are useful for blood pressure and cardiac function.

1 pearl a day contains EPA/DHA which contributes to normal cardiac function, 4 pearls a day contain 2 g of EPA/DHA which contributes to the maintenance of normal blood concentration of triglycerides.
