Vaseline Oil Official Pharmacopoeia

Liquid paraffin: it is used for the short-term treatment of occasional constipation if a medicine not prescribed by the doctor;
for the treatment of constipation if a medicine prescribed by the doctor.

Directions for use
Adults: from 5 to 30 ml. Children of age ’ over 3 years: from 5 to 20 ml.
Take preferably after the evening meal, so that the effect of the laxative, which is produced after 6 – 8 hours, do not disturb sleep.

Warnings
Do not exceed the indicated doses without medical advice.  
The correct dose of the laxative and ’ the minimum enough to produce an easy evacuation of soft stools.
E ’ it is advisable to initially use the minimum doses provided.  
When necessary, the dose can ’ be increased, but without ever exceeding the maximum indicated.  
For a correct dosage, use the measuring cup attached to the package calibrated for multiples of 5 ml up to 30 ml.  
Attention, do not take immediately before going to bed; leave at least one hour after taking the medicine before going to bed.
Do not take together with other medicines by mouth: space out the laxative by at least two hours.
Laxatives should be used as infrequently as possible and for no longer ’ seven days.
Use for longer periods of time requires a doctor's prescription after adequate evaluation of the individual case.
Ingest together with an ’ adequate quantity ’ of water (a large glass).
A diet rich in liquids favors the effect of the medicine.
Do not ingest the medicine on an empty stomach.
