Normalene Macrogol 4000 20 Single-dose Sachets

Symptomatic treatment of constipation. It promotes peristalsis, helping to have adequate intestinal evacuation, thus counteracting constipation and preventing the formation of faecal impactions.
Macrogol is an inert water-soluble polymer with a high molecular weight which has the ability to bind to the water used for intake, retaining it in the feces. It determines a rehydration and softening of the fecal mass and facilitates its evacuation. Accelerates intestinal transit, promoting peristalsis. It is not absorbed or metabolised in the gastro-intestinal tract and does not lead to hydro-electrolyte imbalances, if taken with the indicated dose of liquid.
Suitable for diabetics.

How to use
Indicated for adults and children over 12 years of age:
- 1 to 4 sachets per day.
The dose must be increased or decreased, depending on the individual response to the treatment, in order to allow regular evacuation of soft stools.
The maximum dose necessary does not normally exceed 4 sachets per day.

Dissolve the powder in water or other liquid (125 ml for each sachet) and take immediately. It is recommended to administer the product in the morning, in case you need to take the minimum dose (1 sachet per day). For larger doses, divide the intake between morning and evening.
If you do not notice any improvement after 7 days of treatment, consult your doctor.

Warnings
Administration in children must be carried out under the direct supervision of an adult.
Consult your doctor before use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the package.
Do not use if the package is open or damaged.
The product can reduce the residence time in the intestine and therefore the absorption of oral medicines. It is therefore advisable to consult your doctor if you take oral medicines at the same time, which must in any case be administered at least 2 hours apart.
The product may cause a potential interaction effect when used with thickeners starch-based foods. Macrogol counteracts the thickening effect of starch, liquefying the preparations which should instead remain dense to allow them to be taken by people with swallowing problems.
In case of unwanted reactions, suspend treatment and consult your doctor .
Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
Do not take in case of:
- known hypersensitivity to one or more components;
- paralytic ileus;
- intestinal perforation, obstruction or stenosis;
- serious inflammatory diseases of the intestine (e.g. ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, toxic megacolon).
The use of laxatives is contraindicated if they are present acute abdominal pain or of unknown origin, nausea and vomiting, rectal bleeding of unknown origin and in case of severe dehydration.
Some gastro-intestinal disorders may occur (stomach ache, flatulence, abdominal swelling, nausea and incontinence faecal).
Diarrhea is a secondary effect of taking excessive doses of Normalene Macrogol 4000 – and can be avoided by reducing the intake dose.
Cases of hypersensitivity reactions (skin rash) have rarely been reported following the use of products containing macrogol. If necessary, suspend treatment and consult your doctor.

Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, protected from light and away from heat sources.
