Sonic emissions , slightly audible, are effective against mosquitoes because they reproduce the call of the male mosquito, pushing away the female, the one that bites, in search of blood for the eggs. They have a superior repellent effect compared to ultrasonic ones, but in some subjects they can be audible and therefore cause annoyance.

The ultrasonic mode is not audible to the human ear, but has a lower effectiveness and range of action than the sonic one.
